6 Slip Dresses You Need This Fall To Unleash Your Inner '90s Babe

The fashion Gods have spoken, and it looks like this one trend is not only raging, but here to stay: Slip dresses. A token '90s look, this iconic dress has been seen on the biggest babes of the decade, from Cher Horowitz's Calvin Klein white number, to Jennifer Aniston's lace slip LBD, to pretty much all of Kate Moss' grunge-chic looks throughout the years.

There's a reason they've recently resurged: Those thin straps and low neckline are just so, so flattering, and the silhouette is so simple that it justworks on practically everyone. And, they're super easy to style. The beauty of the slip dress, too, is its ability to serve as the perfect layer. In the summer months, it's that effortless dress you need for a night out, or even to a boozy brunch. But as the fall and winter months creep toward us (they always sneak up, don't they?), they don't just get packed away with your summer wear in the back of your closet.

My personal favorite way to layer a slip dress is with a cropped sweater on top, doubling up on the '90s trends. Bonus points if you can find an off-the-shoulder sweater! If you happen to feel especially Cher-like, throw the slip dress on top of a T-shirt or even a sweater. Voilà, an instantly chic and warm outfit. Pair with a choker and combat boots, and you're a hop, skip, and a jump away from basically crawling out of a time machine.

So in honor of Michelle Pfieffer, Keri Russell, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, get your slip dress on with these ten ultra-sexy options.

1. This Sky Blue Beauty

There's not many hues that are prettier than this one, and over a white fuzzy sweater, you'd epitomize '90s babe.

2. This Perfectly Seasonal Look

'Tis the season for everything checker!

3. This Seriously Cool LBD

Take the LBD to new heights with this dangerously low back. Sexy, eh?

4. Hello, Fringe!

This is the perfect New Year's Eve dress. Take note!

5. When In Doubt, Go With Red

This gorgeous hue will brighten up any fall/winter outfit.

6. The Tribal Print

I saw Cady Heron wearing tribal print and booties, so I bought tribal print and booties.

This fall and winter season, the slip dress should be your new go-to. After all, fashion trends come in cycles, and this one's long overdue.

Woman reveals how her fiancé dumped her before their wedding

A New York woman who was happily engaged to the man of her dreams has told of her devastation when her fiancé admitted to her that he wasn't ready to get married - and then got engaged to another woman just three months later.

But while some women might have let the heartbreaking experience put them off romance forever, Stacey Becker, 38, is now married to a wonderful man with whom she has a baby girl, and reveals in her debut book that the traumatic experience was actually the 'best thing that ever happened' to her.

'My family was cheering behind closed doors. They thought Brad was immature, impulsive and that I could do a lot better,' she tells Daily Mail Online of her family's reaction to the bombshell, adding that, now, she knows that they were right.

In her memoir, Knot the One: Why Getting Dumped Before My Wedding Was the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me, Stacey, who is also a blogger, reveals that her fiancé proposed to her with a Tacori diamond ring while they were on a Caribbean cruise in 2006.

Worst nightmare: Stacey Becker, 38, pictured in her $3,500 Reem Acra wedding dress, reveals how her fiancé dumped her before their wedding because he said he didn't want to get married, then got engaged to another woman just three months later

She was 29-years-old at the time and working as a high-powered attorney at the now-defunct financial firm Lehman Brothers in Manhattan, and now recalls how she felt like she had everything she ever wanted at her fingertips.

But after Stacey had purchased a $3,500 Reem Acra wedding gown, invited 300 people to an extravagant reception in Westchester, New York, and was planning a Hawaiian honeymoon, Brad abruptly called off their wedding that fall, leaving the bride-to-be heartbroken – and confused.

The hunky, six-foot-tall California native told her one day in November that he wasn't ready to get married.

'An hour later, he apologized and said that of course he loved me, he was just confused about whether he was ready to get married right now,' Stacey told Daily Mail Online.

She says the process of telling her friends and family about their broken engagement was 'incredibly painful', revealing that while the couple had yet to send out wedding invitations, they had set up a wedding website, registered at a number of stores and had even started receiving gifts.

'It was painful and embarrassing to have to repeat the story over and over, especially at work,' she shares.

Stacey says her parents and sister helped her cancel her wedding vendors and try to get her deposits back, but that she was mostly unable to get reimbursed and lost a lot of money.

However, despite their broken engagement, the author and Brad continued living together in New York, until he moved back to California for work.

But the couple continued to date long-distance 'for three and a half of the worst months of my life', Stacey says, sharing: 'There is no easy way to date your ex fiancé. Especially in a long distance relationship!'

She says Brad would visit her in New York every weekend, but things were never the same between them after he had called off their wedding.

Still, he told her that he wanted to be with her and just needed more time to figure things out.

'He piled on the I love you's and swore up and down that I was the one for him,' Stacey tells Daily Mail Online.

Finally, after she went to visit him in California, they decided to end their relationship for good.

'I was was just so sick of being sad, with no progress in sight,' she shares.

Then, just three months after he had called off their wedding, Brad called her and told her he was engaged to a woman he had just met.

'It felt like a punch in the gut,' she says, revealing that she was still mourning their relationship, so the fact that he had already gotten engaged to someone new was 'incomprehensible' to her.

However, just six months into his marriage, Brad and his wife got divorced.

Stacey says that her ex told her the news via Facebook, writing her a message that said: 'I've learned my lesson. Don't marry the rebound girl.'

She says she felt 'awful' for the woman - and knew she had dodged a bullet.

'She could have been me and had no idea what she was getting involved with,' the attorney shares.

And that's not the only reason she feels fortunate about being dumped.

Stacey got together with her longtime camp friend Jonny shortly after Brad had told her about his engagement.

On her would-be wedding day in August 2007, she attended a friend's wedding with Jonny, whom she had always had a crush on as a teenager.

The couple got engaged two years later after Jonny proposed to her during a camp alumni weekend.

They have now been married for five years, and live on Manhattan's Upper East Side with their 19-month-old daughter, Ellie, and their dog, Wally.

How to achieve the ‘no makeup look’

Every girl always wants to look natural even when done up, thus giving birth to the curious concept of the “No Makeup Look.”

How to achieve this though is always the question among womenfolk, who sometimes find it difficult to figure out the color, the amount, and the method of applying natural-looking makeup.

This conundrum inspired global skincare brand Pond’s, which set off to figure out the best “no makeup look” for Filipinas via a four-step regimen dubbed “#PondsNoMakeupLook.”

“We asked female jobbers what their ideal everyday look was, and they shared that they wanted a flawless face that looks like they put a little makeup on,” said Pond’s Senior Brand Manager Jules Gollayan regarding the project’s beginnings. “They wanted to upgrade their regimen, and gain confidence in turn, so the following is what we came up with through the help of a team of beauty experts.”

Cleanse. Start with using the Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel because soaps can be harsh on the face. Said beauty blogger Nicole Anderson, “While it’s important to have clean skin that’s clear, you have to make sure your skin won’t dry.”

Moisturize. Because putting on a thick layer of products on the skin isn’t the most practical approach for young, on-the-go women, multi-tasker moisturizer Pond’s Dewy Rose Gel makes it to the second step. “It keeps my skin healthy, because I don’t have to put too many products on. Plus it’s so light on the skin, while acting as a makeup primer too,”’ attested another beauty consultant, Laureen Uy.

Conceal. Concealing is the third step with Pond’s BB+ Cream, which is a 2-in-1 whitening skincare and makeup product. “It’s very hot and humid in the Philippines, so this is the perfect product that feels light while giving me the coverage I want,” rounded up the brand’s third beauty consultant Kryz Uy.

Enhance. Partnering with Filipino makeup brand Happy Skin, the regimen concludes with the No Makeup Look Lippie to add a healthy pop of color while moisturizing and smoothening the lips to match glowing skin.

Meet the Judges of Masala! Awards 2015: Ayesha Depala

Some of the most glamorous women in showbiz – from Aishwarya Rai and Sonam to Malaika Arora Khan and Kajol – have worn her designs. Top fashion pundits have applauded her style. She is one of the leading names to have emerged in the field of fashion design from the Middle East and India, having won awards and accolades galore at different platforms over the years. Yet, Ayesha Depala remains remarkably unaffected by the hoopla that surrounds her profile. Perhaps it was because she knew she was meant to be a designer all along, her sensibilities being firmly rooted in the traditional crafts and arts of India. Born in Kashmir, to parents in the textile industry, Ayesha studied both Textile and Fashion Design at New Delhi. Soon she opened her first boutique in India, New Delhi, at the prestigious Ambawata Centre and then the second, at the Village Mall in Dubai, UAE. It wasn’t long before some of the most high-profile fashion forward women in the region and beyond, proudly started sporting her elegant gowns, dresses and bridal wear. A true woman of substance, it’s a pleasure to have her as one of the jury members of the forthcoming Masala! Awards...

What led you to a career in fashion design?

I was raised in a family with textile heritage. My father is a textile engineer and my mother is a textile designer by trade, so it was a natural careerpath for me as I was inevitably surrounded by fabrics and design. I was drawn to art and design in its entirety at a very young age. My father worked with DU Pond and I grew up surrounded by lace swatches. Perhaps this might explain my never-ending love story with lace! The absence of luxurious ready-to-wear in India at the time somewhat led to a level of frustration that ended up in me starting my ready-to-wear line.

Meet the Judges of Masala! Awards 2015: Ayesha Depala

What was the fashion scene like initially, when you started your career as a designer?

In India design, art, craft and textiles are an age-old concept. We, as a nation, are highly skilled where craft is concerned. But the whole concept of fashion design and construction is a relatively new concept in India. Back then, there were no independent stores or shopping malls. Indian designer boutiques had just started to emerge but there was huge gap for the western ready-to-wear market. The fashion scene was only just at the brink of emergence.

What kind of woman does your label cater to?

The Ayesha Depala woman is feminine and fashion forward with an old fashioned soul. She is able to make her presence known and felt without making a desperate attempt at it. She appreciates luxury and in is in tune with her culture and heritage. She is able to look refined and street in equal measure all the time.

How would you describe the current fashion scene in the region is it a promising profession for aspiring young designers?

Fortuitously, the world’s love affair with Dubai is blossoming and the region has firmly placed it mark on the world’s fashion map. Dubai is a varied cultural mix and UAE’s citizens have a voracious appetite for fashion and luxury goods. The fashion scene in the city has evolved and come into its own. However, as with any other profession, this one is no different in that it requires part skill and part business acumen, to succeed. Design is a small part of this industry and business is entirely different. Young girls are often lured by the glamour and lack business acumen or finances to make their labels sustainable and at time, scalable.

You’ve dressed some of the most beautiful women in Bollywood. Can you tell us a little about your experience designing for the stars?

I have always enjoyed my work and I continue to do so. For me, dressing my everyday clients or brides is equally exciting as dressing a Bollywood celebrity. I was fortunate enough that my work was loved by most women. In fact, when pieces are requested for trials they end up being taken. But among celebrities, I definitely enjoyed dressing Madhuri Dixit as I loved her as a little girl!

What inspires you as a designer?

I am inspired by mundane things such as the street and its simplicity as well as Indian arts, crafts and architecture. Kashmir and its textile and design also deeply inspire me. Watching people in Paris right outside the Fashion Tents has to be one of the most amazing sights as well. All these get integrated into my designs.

Is there any one ensemble that you truly enjoyed designing?

There have been quite a few. But I dressed a member of the regional royal family recently for her wedding. We were very pressed for time and she required a three metre fully beaded train with handmade flowers. This dress was one of the most complex and time-consuming outfits I ever did but possibly I ended up loving the most too!

What’s your fashion forecast for the months ahead?

As a brand, we don’t follow trends nor do we purchase forecast books. I work with my own personal instinct. For 2016, we will see a huge emphasis on utilitarian outerwear, stronger/tougher fabrics and layering.

What do you hope to expect from the Masala! Awards this year?

The Masala! Awards have gone from strength to strength in not only honouring regional triumphs but in celebrating events with immense style and grandeur. I am honoured to be a part of this year’s celebration and am looking forward to a fun-filled evening.

Fashion's top 10 collaborations of 2015

Collaborations have become de rigueur in the fashion industry. Daniel Kong names his top 10 for 2015

Collaborations have become a popular strategy for fashion brands in recent years. Some of the most fruitful and surprising have been with the likes of movie franchises, soft drink giants and technology firms. Paul Smith has co-designed bikes, Vivienne Tam has done hotel suites and architect Zaha Hadid has lent her talents to jewellery.

Locally, Kevin Poon of Clot will do rolling collaborations with Nike for the Hong Kong market.

Here are 10 noteworthy collaborations from this year. Five are characterised by strong designs and partnerships, while the other five are notable for their quirkiness:

Top five "cool" collaborations

Esprit Dior in Seoul

Housed in Zaha Hadid's magnificent Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Dior's recent exhibition not only documents the history of the fashion label, but invites South Korean artists to reinterpret the brand's image. This was done through various mediums, including paintings by Kiwon Park and Heryun Kim. The move provided a sophisticated and localised context to the Dior brand.

Uniqlo and Lemaire

Since his spring-summer 2015 collection served as the swansong for his stint as womenswear creative director of Hermès, Christopher Lemaire has wasted no time in finding other interesting projects. Besides concentrating on building his own eponymous label, Lemaire has delivered a capsule collection of basics for Uniqlo that eschews trends in favour of timeless pieces. We can't think of a better match, especially for the Japanese retailer which champions purity of design compared to fast fashion rivals.

NikeLab and Sacai

Fashion's love of sportswear is turning out to be a long-term relationship. One such collaboration that oozes coolness is NikeLab and Sacai, marrying innovative new materials with killer cuts and high-performance functionality. One example is the tech fleece, which has been reinterpreted into sweatshirts, tops, dresses and sweatpants. Sacai's founder, Chitose Abe, reinterprets Nike's heritage sportswear silhouettes through a feminine and modern lens to create a concise eight-piece collection.

Opening Ceremony and Intel

You can always expect new and edgy ideas to come from multibrand online boutique Opening Ceremony. Its latest buzzworthy move is a collaboration with Intel in the wearable technology sector. The two companies have created the "Mica" (my intelligent communication accessory) bracelet, a device that delivers discreet text messages, Gmail notifications, Refinery 29 horoscopes and appointment reminders. Style, of course, has not been sacrificed: this gadget is made with snakeskin, pearls, lapis, obsidian and tiger's eye.

Cos and Mr Porter

Minimalist fashion brand Cos has caused a bit of a stir with its collection, created in partnership with leading online menswear retailer Mr Porter. Designed with the modern traveller in mind, the menswear collection is inspired by nature and architecture. Customers will find graphic shapes and relaxed fabrics in the smart and minimal aesthetic one might expect from both brands. You'll also find a monochrome palette accented with pops of colour, along with clean lines and silhouettes.

Top five "quirky" collaborations

Irregular Choice and Star Wars

Sci-fi geeks will rejoice with the news that funky British footwear brand Irregular Choice is releasing a collection of shoes in collaboration with Star Wars. The line will feature characters from the film series plastered in a variety of ways, such as on heels, prints and embroidery details. For aspiring Jedi knights, there's even a pair of flashing lightsabre heels. It's no wonder that Irregular Choice has celebrity fans with an out-there fashion style, such as Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry.

Diet Coke and J.W. Anderson

Much like his predecessors Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs, Jonathan Anderson is bringing his creative vision and clout to the omnipresent soft-drink brand. Part of Anderson's collaboration will include a makeover of the iconic Coke bottle, which will be inspired by the knitwear of his autumn- winter 2015 collection. In addition, he will create the designs for two shirts and a notebook.

Sophia Webster and Barbie

Shoe designer Sophia Webster's partnership with the iconic doll Barbie has resulted in a series of nine different footwear styles: six for adults and three for children. As one might expect, there is a lot of pink in the capsule line. And though it includes high heels that are often seen on Barbie, Webster has also created sandals, high-tops and slip-ons for those who prefer comfort.

ASOS and Wall's ice cream

The collaboration between fashion retailer ASOS and Wall's ice cream came at a perfect time - just when Hong Kong's brutal summer hit. The 16-piece crazy collection was inspired by the goodies and treats we know and love, which have been shamelessly featured on steamy hot crop tops, mini dresses, luscious clutches and slip-ons.

Minions and Selfridges It was only a matter of time before someone in fashion capitalised on the popularity of those little yellow creatures that first captured our hearts in 2010's Despicable Me. Selfridges has created a range of Minions-themed products in collaboration with designers such as Giles Deacon, Piers Atkinson and Rupert Sanderson. The collection features the Minions' beady eyes plastered over everything from shoes to beanies and jumpers.

Olgana Paris Launches Bridal Collection

The bridal market continues to heat up, with more designers adding wedding collections to their offerings. The latest to enter the mix is Paris-based Olga Molbieva Djanguirov, who launched her Olgana collection of highly detailed heels in 2014 and has now added a special White Tie assortment of nuptial-ready styles for spring ’16.

The label is sold at Barneys, Montaigne Market, Dover Street Market,MatchesFashion.com, Level Shoes District in Dubai, Moda Operandi, 4Kuwait and Hirshleifers. Prices range from $680 to $910 at current exchange rates.

Olgana Paris Bridal Shoes

“The day of your marriage is the most special of a women’s life,” says Djanguirov. “It has been my dream to beautify [a bride’s] foot with a creation that would be romantic, but most importantly, comfortable — not to suffer on this particular day.”

White options range from whimsical bowed satin stilettos (the La Romantique and the La Delicate) to sleek exotic sandals and pumps such as the L’Amazone and the L’Audacieuse, done in crocodile or python for brides looking for something with a little more bite.

And, the designer explained, versatility is key. “Our creations are shoes that you will not put in a box after the big day, but can always be ready to wear with jeans or pants afterward,” said Djanguirov, also noting the growing trend toward footwear exposure when walking down the aisle. “I’m thinking of those brides who are not just wearing a long dress. I believe that style has changed for the bridal [market]. It has become more fashion-oriented and certainly more modern.” With that in mind, Olgana Paris also offers styles in an au courant blush shade.

The star of the 10-piece collection (and Djanguirov’s favorite pair) is the La Piece Unique heel, which features more than 180 leather flowers on each shoe, making a bouquet redundant.

For her own wedding, the designer shared that she would wear the La Délicate. “It’s so elegant and refined,” she said.

Katy Perry & John Mayer to tie the knot soon?

Wedding bells and baby showers are on the agenda for the on-off couple Katy Perry and John Mayer after the two singers recently got back together. Despite breaking up twice this year, the couple is officially back in each other's arms and they intend on staying this way for good.

According to The New Zealand Herald, Katy Perry and John Mayer have discussed settling down as they plan to marry and start a family as soon as possible. The two celebrities, who recently rekindled their relationship after breaking up twice this year, are now ready to take their relationship to the next level.

After breaking up last July, sources explained how John was devastated with the split and realized he had made a grave mistake of letting the 'Dark Horse' singer go. While Katy is ready to settle down and start a family, the 'Gravity' singer wasn't ready for that kind of commitment. However, after realizing how much he loved and missed the dark-haired beauty, John opened up to the 30-year-old singer and told her he's ready to father her kids.

In a report from Latinos Post, John Mayer is ready to marry his girlfriend and intends on doing so before they have children. Although an insider stated Katy wasn't as bothered to tie the knot before having children, after hearing her boyfriend pour his heart out, she agreed to discuss possible wedding plans.

Another source close to the couple discussed their plans of tying the knot before next summer, adding that the two celebrities recently attended close pals Allison Williams and Ricky Van Veen's wedding which made them realize how special their relationship is.

Food World News reported how busy Perry has been over the last year and a half with her 'Prismatic World Tour' that took her all over the world including countries in Europe, South America, Australia and Asia. However, with the tour coming to an end in just a few days' time as well as her 31st birthday only a few weeks' away, rumor has it Mayer may have something ultra-special for his girlfriend's recent wishes.

Now that Katy Perry will have more free time on her hands as her tour comes to an end, John Mayer and his future bride can now discuss their near future goal of getting married and starting a family. Although it hasn't been confirmed when their wedding bells will be ringing soon and with the recent photos of the couple circling the Internet, it looks like the on-off couple are now back for good.

The Beauty Tools You Aren't Cleaning but Should

You already know the importance of cleaning and disinfecting your makeup brushes. But what you might not consider is the bacteria and germs festering on other makeup tools too. Just ask yourself, when was the last time you cleaned your eyelash curler or the inside of your makeup bag? They're full of gunk, yet we do nothing about it. Not because we don't care but because we don't think about it. That's why we turned to two celebrity makeup artists for a little reminder. After all, they have two jobs: making their clients look good and keeping their tools bacteria-free to avoid breakouts and contamination. Here's what they have to say:

Tweezers

Makeup artist Stella Kae has worked on celebrities like Alyssa Milano and Patricia Arquette, and one tool she always uses is her trusty tweezers to apply lashes. Afterward, she says she cleans them with alcohol and sometimes places them in sterilizing bags.

Eyelash Curler and Pencil Sharpener

We likely don't have to explain why it's important to clean your eyelash curler since there's usually leftover mascara on it. Not only should you change the rubber strip on it every three to six months, but celebrity makeup artist Lusine (she works regularly with Victoria Justice) says she cleans it regularly between each client, along with another tool, her pencil sharpener. "They need to be placed in a state-board-approved disinfection solution for a certain amount of time to ensure that they are disinfected," she says. For those of us who aren't makeup artists, a rubdown with alcohol works too.

Makeup Sponges

Just like makeup brushes, sponges come directly into contact with our skin and makeup. Not only does that transfer bacteria, but Kae says, "it will muddy the colors you're trying to use!" Brush cleanser works on sponges or you can use gentle baby shampoo.

Makeup Bag

Yes, the inside of your makeup bag counts as a beauty tool. And the last time we looked in ours, it was a hot mess. Lusine says, "Anything that can come close to any opening of your face should be cleaned and sanitized. This includes anything that carries these products such as makeup bags or travel bags." Looks like it's time to give it a good scrub!
